TeacherActive is proud to be working with a specialist SEND provision in South Bristol that supports children and young people with a range of additional needs. The setting provides a nurturing, structured, and therapeutic learning environment where pupils are encouraged to develop confidence, independence, emotional resilience, and positive relationships.

The school is seeking to appoint a full-time SEND Learning Support Assistant (LSA) on a long-term basis. This opportunity would suit experienced SEND Teaching Assistants, SEN Teaching Assistants, Learning Support Assistants (LSAs), Behaviour Support Assistants, Behaviour Mentors, Inclusion Support Workers, Classroom Support Assistants, Pastoral Support Workers, Care Workers, Residential Support Workers, Youth Workers, Children's Support Workers, and Teaching Assistants with experience supporting children with additional needs.

Working closely with pupils with SEMH (Social, Emotional and Mental Health needs), ASC (Autism Spectrum Condition), ADHD, and associated learning needs, you will provide both academic and emotional support, helping pupils engage positively with learning while promoting independence, confidence, and wellbeing. You will use positive behaviour management techniques and effective de-escalation strategies to support pupils in achieving their individual educational and personal goals.

The successful SEND LSA will have:

  • Experience supporting children and young people with SEND, particularly SEMH, ASC and ADHD.

  • Experience managing behaviours that challenge within an education, care, residential, youth work, or support setting.

  • Team Teach, PRICE, MAPA, or other positive behaviour management/de-escalation training is highly desirable.

  • Excellent communication and relationship-building skills.

  • A calm, patient, resilient, and empathetic approach.

  • The ability to adapt support strategies to meet individual pupil needs.
