Job Title: SEND Teaching Assistant

Salary: £90 - £100 per day

TeacherActive is proud to be working with specialist primary and secondary SEND schools based in Handsworth, Birmingham. These welcoming schools provide a nurturing and inclusive environment for children with Autism, promoting independence, communication and confidence through a child-centred approach.
The schools are looking to appoint an experienced SEND Teaching Assistant for flexible day-to-day cover starting in September 2026. The successful SEND Teaching Assistant will support pupils with Autism across a variety of age groups, adapting to different classrooms while working closely with teaching staff to ensure every child receives the support they need to achieve their full potential.
The successful SEND Teaching Assistant will have:
• Experience supporting children and young people with Autism / ASD
• Previous experience working as a SEND Teaching Assistant within UK schools or specialist provisions
• Excellent behaviour management and communication skills
• The ability to build positive relationships with pupils and staff
• A patient, caring and adaptable approach
• A genuine passion for supporting children with additional needs
