Teaching Assistant – Mainstream & SEND Schools

Pay: £90–£115 per day

TeacherActive is currently recruiting enthusiastic and resilient Teaching Assistants to work across a range of mainstream and SEND schools throughout London.

We are particularly interested in Teaching Assistants with experience supporting pupils with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs, ADHD, Autism and behavioural needs.

As a Teaching Assistant, you may work 1:1 with individual pupils, within small intervention groups or alongside the class teacher, helping pupils to access learning, manage their emotions and behaviour, develop positive relationships and build confidence within the school environment.

The successful Teaching Assistant will:

  • Have previous experience working with children or young people, ideally within a school, SEND, SEMH, youth work, mentoring or care setting
  • Have experience or a good understanding of SEMH and ADHD
  • Be confident supporting pupils with challenging behaviour and emotional regulation
  • Use positive behaviour management and de-escalation strategies
  • Build strong and trusting relationships with pupils
  • Support pupils both academically and emotionally
  • Be patient, resilient, reliable and adaptable
  • Work effectively alongside teachers, SENDCos, pastoral teams and other professionals
  • Have a strong commitment to safeguarding and pupil wellbeing

Experience supporting Autism, ADHD, SEMH, trauma, anxiety, challenging behaviour or additional learning needs would be highly beneficial.
