Job Title: Team Teach SEND Teaching Assistant
Location: South Bristol
Start Date: January 2027
Salary: £14.25 - £18.00 per hour

TeacherActive is proud to be working with a specialist SEND school based in South Bristol to recruit a dedicated Team Teach SEND Teaching Assistant. The school supports children and young people with Social, Emotional and Mental Health / SEMH needs and behaviours that challenge, providing a nurturing and supportive environment where pupils are encouraged to develop emotional regulation, positive relationships and confidence in their learning.
The school is looking to appoint a Team Teach SEND Teaching Assistant from January 2027 on a full-time, long-term temporary basis, with the opportunity to become permanent for the right candidate. The successful Team Teach SEND Teaching Assistant will provide one-to-one and small group support, using Team Teach strategies to manage challenging behaviour, support pupils during periods of emotional dysregulation and promote positive engagement in learning.
The successful Team Teach SEND Teaching Assistant will have:
A current Team Teach qualification, which is essential for this role
At least 6 months' experience supporting children or young people with SEMH needs and challenging behaviour
Experience working within SEND schools, SEMH provisions, alternative provisions, PRUs or similar specialist settings
An Enhanced DBS on the Update Service, or a willingness to obtain one
Strong behaviour management skills, including the ability to use de-escalation strategies and respond appropriately to challenging situations
A calm, patient and resilient approach with excellent communication skills and the ability to build trusting relationships with pupils
