TeacherActive is proud to be working with a number of specialist SEND schools across Bristol and South Gloucestershire that support children and young people with Autism, Severe Learning Difficulties (SLD), Profound and Multiple Learning Difficulties (PMLD), sensory processing needs and behaviours that challenge. These welcoming schools provide nurturing, inclusive environments where pupils are supported through personalised learning, therapeutic approaches and structured routines to develop confidence, independence and essential life skills.

The schools are looking to appoint a dedicated Team Teach SEND Teaching Assistant on a full-time, long-term basis, with the opportunity to secure a permanent position for the right candidate. The successful Team Teach SEND Teaching Assistant will support pupils on a 1:1 basis and in small groups, working alongside teachers and therapists to promote engagement in learning, emotional regulation and positive behaviour. Using Team Teach strategies, you will help create a safe, supportive classroom environment where every pupil can thrive both academically and socially.

The successful Team Teach SEND Teaching Assistant will have:

• Team Teach training or previous experience using Team Teach strategies, or a willingness to refresh your qualification
• A minimum of 6 months' experience supporting children or young people with Autism, complex SEND or behaviours that challenge
• Experience working within SEND schools, specialist provisions, alternative provisions, care or therapeutic settings
• Excellent communication skills and the ability to build positive, trusting relationships with pupils and colleagues
• A calm, patient and resilient approach with a genuine passion for supporting children with additional needs
• An Enhanced DBS on the Update Service or willingness to obtain one
