TeacherActive is proud to be working with a number of specialist SEND schools across Bristol and South Gloucestershire to recruit dedicated Team Teach SEND Teaching Assistants. These welcoming schools support children and young people with Autism, Severe Learning Difficulties (SLD), Profound and Multiple Learning Difficulties (PMLD), sensory processing needs and behaviours that challenge, providing nurturing and inclusive environments where personalised learning and therapeutic approaches help every pupil to thrive.

The schools are looking to appoint full-time Team Teach SEND Teaching Assistants on a long-term basis from September, with opportunities to secure permanent positions for the right candidates. The successful Team Teach SEND Teaching Assistant will work closely with teachers and therapists, supporting pupils on a one-to-one basis and in small groups, using Team Teach strategies to promote positive behaviour, emotional regulation and engagement in learning while helping pupils develop confidence, independence and essential life skills.

The successful Team Teach SEND Teaching Assistant will have:

• Team Teach training or previous experience using Team Teach strategies, or a willingness to refresh your qualification.
• A minimum of 6 months' experience supporting children or young people with Autism, complex SEND or behaviours that challenge.
• Experience working within SEND schools, specialist provisions, alternative provisions, care or therapeutic settings.
• Excellent communication skills and the ability to build positive, trusting relationships with pupils and colleagues.
• A calm, patient and resilient approach with a genuine passion for supporting children with additional needs.
• An Enhanced DBS on the Update Service or willingness to obtain one.
