Year 5/6 Primary Teacher

Wales/ temporary / £172.98 - 172.98 per day

TeacherActive seeking an enthusiastic and dedicated full-time Year 5/6 Class Teacher to join a welcoming and supportive primary school in September. You will be responsible for delivering high-quality teaching to a mixed-age Key Stage 2 class, supporting pupils as they prepare for transition to secondary school.

The successful candidate will play a key role in delivering a broad, balanced and engaging curriculum aligned with the Curriculum for Wales, ensuring all learners are supported to reach their full potential.


Key Responsibilities

Teaching & Learning

  • Plan, prepare and deliver high-quality lessons across all Areas of Learning and Experience (AoLEs)
  • Implement the principles of the Curriculum for Wales, including:
    • Progression-based learning
    • Cross-curricular delivery
    • Development of the Four Purposes
  • Use a range of teaching strategies to engage and motivate learners
  • Provide appropriate challenge for more able pupils and support for those with ALN

Assessment & Progress

  • Use formative and summative assessment effectively to inform planning
  • Track and monitor pupil progress in line with school systems
  • Provide constructive feedback to pupils to support improvement

Classroom Environment

  • Establish a positive, inclusive and safe learning environment
  • Promote high standards of behaviour in line with school policy
  • Support pupils’ emotional wellbeing and resilience
  • Develop strong relationships with pupils based on respect and trust

Additional Learning Needs (ALN)

  • Identify and support pupils with Additional Learning Needs (ALN)
  • Work closely with the ALNCo to implement Individual Development Plans (IDPs)
  • Differentiate learning effectively to meet diverse needs

Wider School Contribution

  • Contribute to whole-school initiatives and development priorities
  • Participate in staff meetings, INSET and professional learning
  • Engage with parents, carers and the wider community

Person Specification

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)
  • Recent experience teaching in Key Stage 2
  • Strong understanding of the Curriculum for Wales
  • Excellent classroom management skills
  • Ability to plan and deliver engaging, differentiated lessons
  • Commitment to safeguarding and promoting pupil wellbeing
