Last year, we released our first ESG (Environmental, Social and Governance) report to share our pledges and commitments with staff, educators and partners. We believe organisations can positively impact the environment and as part of this commitment, we’ve launched a new initiative called Transform: our environmental awareness committee, whose mission is to create a sustainable future.
At TeacherActive, we’ve had huge success with our diversity and inclusion initiative, Empower, and our Charity committee since their launch. Staff-led initiatives, supported by the business, have had a significant impact throughout the company and beyond.
Empower was launched in 2020 and since then TeacherActive have been leading the way for diversity and inclusion in the recruitment industry. Their yearly manifesto outlines ways to ensure intersectional diversity and inclusion. The Charity team have facilitated over £53,000 of fundraising and engaged team members across the country with events and volunteer days. Not only does this raise awareness and funds for incredible causes, but it also brings teams together for unified causes.
Transform follows this same formula, giving passionate team members the opportunity to drive positive change in their workplace.
Transform is all about changing what we do today to have a positive impact on the future. What we do today matters! This exciting new TeacherActive initiative is spearheaded by:
- Sarah Jones, Facilities and Events Manager
- Rachael Quinn, Executive Assistant
- Nikita Smirnov, Facilities and Events Consultant
- Nicola Hopkins, Area Manager
Transform’s mission
“Build a culture of environmental respect, and consideration, inspiring our people to make thoughtful and sustainable choices that positively impact the planet.”
The team will drive meaningful change across TeacherActive by continually improving working practices and creating a workplace culture where environmental considerations are first, rather than an afterthought. Through events and internal knowledge sharing Transform will empower the nationwide team to make sustainable choices.
Transform’s goals
Transform's long term aim is to help TeacherActive achieve our goal of becoming a carbon-neutral business by 2030. Along the way, they will engage the whole team with easy-to-action initiatives which are good for both people and the planet, creating an environmentally conscious workforce which teams enjoy being a part of.
One of the most exciting parts of Transform is how the team are going to interconnect with the other initiatives we have in the business, namely Empower and Charity. Together, these three groups will work together throughout year to contribute to an innovative and well-rounded CSR strategy
The first action day from Transform will be the Big Spring Clean in March, where they will be heading out to spend the day litter picking and cleaning in the local area.
What’s next?
We have an exciting calendar of events coming up, where we’ll be supporting various sustainability initiatives and sharing our top tips for greener living!
To kick things off, we’re supporting the Great British Spring Clean on the 18th March. The Transform team will be heading to a local park to take part in a litter pick, doing our part to help keep Great Britain clean and tidy.
